Meet Your Instructors Gordon Shrader, LADC Case Manager Gordon is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor with the State of Nevada. He also is a Licensed DUI School Instructor with the State of Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles. Gordon brings years of experience to counseling/educational experience. Along with a client-centered therapeutic approach, Gordon uses a sharp wit and a keen sense of humor to keep all our sessions grounded in a "real life" approach to recovery. Originally from southern California, Gordon moved to Reno in 1986 and worked for 12 years as a Substance Abuse Therapist facilitating Inpatient Treatment. Gordon also has extensive experience teaching DUI School. In 2003 he moved to Hawaii and worked in the Department of Vetran's Affairs in Hilo helping veterans with addiction issues. returning to Reno in 2011, Gordon joined Advanced DUI and Counseling, brining to our agency a solid reputation as one of the Reno-Sparks area's most respected and knowledgeable therapists. Gordon has extensive traing in Addictions and Human Services.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Michael "Mickey" Yasmer, BSW, CADC Office Manager, Case Manager A native Nevadan, Michael Yasmer grew up in the Truckee Meadows which not only gave Mickey the chance to wrap himself in the free-wheeling Nevada lifestyle but to fall under the spell of a state that "gives away booze and fights over water!" His many personal experiences with relevant issues concerning substance use combined with his training at TMCC and UNR make him uniquely qualified to help others to not only comply with court mandates but to help them look at how alcohol and drugs have affected their lives. Some clients feel that they may have found themselves a kindred spirit among the counselors in Mickey's approach to counseling.
Receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Reno along with a Minor in Addiction Treatment Services, Mickey also holds an Associate's Degree from Truckee Meadows Community College for Mental Health Services-Substance Abuse Counseling. He was also inducted into both the Phi Alpha and Phi Theta Kappa honor Societies in recognition of academic excellence. What his Peers and Friends have to say............... Mickey's passion is music with eclectic tastes ranging from Springsteen to Sinatra, from Johnny Cash to Tom Petty. Clients are often surprised by the concert DVDs that seem to play non-stop in the classroom both before and after sessions. He also enjoys talking sports with a particular weak spot for underdogs (Go Cubs!). Mickey is also an avid collector of sports memorabilia with a focus on the 49ers (Joe Montana & Jerry Rice). |
